JAMES MICHAEL MURPHY
James Michael Murphy: the outsider, the colorful, creative, changemaker. James was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where he graduated from the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts. In 2007 he moved to New York City to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. During his time in New York he earned degrees in Advertising & Marketing Communications and Fabric Styling, while working for fashion designer Cynthia Rowley and stylist Rebecca Weinberg Field, who was one of the original costume designers of Sex and the City. In 2013 he moved to Connecticut to join Daniel at Onyx. Since arriving in Watertown, James has helped elevate the esthetic, branding and service of the store, making Onyx the areas most desirable fine jewelry retail destination. James also volunteers for several community organizations, including serving on the Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation Gala Committee and the Palace Theater Board of Directors. When not at Onyx, James can be found sourcing his next elaborate window display, for which he has been nationally recognized in jewelry trade publications.
